Kitchen Catechism: Prayers

Very interesting things are happening...

Very interesting things are happening on CatholicWomen.com Web Site at this time. We got several requests from our visitors for lists of women in the Bible and I asked Lois if she could find any lists for the women who contacted us.

She had no success finding any that she felt were even close to complete but, what happened is, she became intrigued with the search and began to compile her own list. It turned out to be a gigantic undertaking but she diligently pursued her goal and now we have, what we feel is, a very accurate list. However, if you read her introduction, you will see she is open to adding any names that may have been omitted.

Keep in mind, though, that she is currently compiling a second list which will include all the unnamed women in the Bible and there are women that tradition have dubbed with a name but the name isn’t mentioned in the Bible. One such case is Veronica who wiped the face of Jesus on His way to be crucified. However, if any of our visitors are aware of names that should be included, please send them to us via Comments. For the first time we have a guest writer for our Commentary on the Words of Wisdom. Following the old adage - if you want something done ask a busy person to do it - I asked Loretta Tyson, just about the busiest woman I know, to write something for us. The old adage is right, she came through. (I e-mailed Loretta asking for a list of all she’s involved in -- click here for her answer.) Since I personally hate just initials that are unexplained, following are the full names of the organizations Loretta is active in. ACCW stands for The Archdiocesan Council of Catholic Women and it’s the Los Angeles group. WICS stands for Women in Community Service.

Once again, we must beseech you to pray for our internet presence. We have been asked to expand our services in a program that is currently in the early planning stages. It is national in scope, though parish based and a joint project of the Office of Family Life and Council of Catholic Women here in Los Angeles. At this point it seems like it is way beyond our capabilities but that is just where we were when we began to talk of having this Web Site. Today it is a reality, brought about by your prayers. So please pray for us daily and we will have complete confidence, if it’s God’s will, it will happen and many more services will be available to Catholic women.
